Abstract - Tenki no ko is a movie starring Kotaro Daigo, Nana Mori, and Shun Oguri. A high-school boy who has run away to Tokyo befriends a girl who appears to be able to manipulate the weather; cast - Sei Hiraizumi, Nana Mori; release date - 2019; 112 Minute; ; Creator - Makoto Shinkai. At the first hour and a half it's the most confusing anime I've ever seen then it hits you hard with emotions and the stress they both have to find each other I believe they could've been given some dialogue in the end but at least it's safe to say they're together.

Watched this film last night and while it is indeed visually stunning, I do think this is one of Shinkai's weaker films. It's better than Children Who Chase Lost Voices but not much else. The film commits the sin of telling rather than showing Hodaka's motivations for fleeing his island home- he felt stifled there, or something. We just have to take his word for it because we don't get flashbacks to judge this independently for ourselves. The narrative feels this a delinquent with a heart of gold story? A modern magical girl tale? It's hard to tell. I can't not compare it with other films by different far as the theme of Weird Weather, I feel like Penguin Highway is superior to this film. As far as the emotional connection to the the flawed film Fireworks (Hanabi) from 2017 does this better- I cared more. Your Name is Shinkai's crowning achievement to date, so perhaps it's asking too much for him to keep knocking it out of the park every time. I appreciate the clear effort he put into this film and the (somewhat) muddled message about climate change (again, see the anime series Shangri-La for a more direct treatment of this theme. but it just didn't quite land for me. I appreciate that Shinkai once again allowed himself to have an arguably "happy" ending (many of his early works serve up bittersweet disappointment & regret. though of course it we are to believe the magical narrative Hodaka basically condemns the rest of Tokyo to worsening climate by stealing away the magical sun priestess from heaven and the (invisible) gods will have their apparent revenge! Or else Hina and Hodaka had a really bad drug trip and boy doesn't climate change stink for everyone because adults can't get their collective shizz together to do anything about it. It seems to be one or the other, hard to see how it'd be both- but that's the muddled answer Shinkai seems to be teasing us with with a playful shrug & smile. the movie is definitely worth seeing but if you had to pick this or Your Name to watch for the first time, definitely pick Your Name.

I then went into the theater on opening night with no knowledge of the plot. only that it had something to do with Maratha and Abdali! Ignorance is bliss! I was absolutely blown away. I generally don't watch war films. but I found the battle scenes were so well done and breathe taking.
Ashutosh Gowariker did good job. Panipat is entertaining and pleasing to the eye. I just think this was a fantastic, very informative & Good Historical Movie.

Past and present glories, true or false, must be resurrected on screen, pronto. The resolution set out the terms and conditions of the way these stories were to be told. All annoying crimps — of personality and character, of mistakes, misdemeanours and maleficence — that did not smoothly fit into the mould of Hindu, Patriotic, Maryada Purushottam (HPMP) were to be twisted into submission of the great Hindu Rashtra. Several addendums were attached to the main resolution, and though it has been reported that Akshay Kumar decamped with a whole bunch of them, some did get left behind for the other eager beavers. One such addendum was on the great Marathas. By great Marathas they meant (obvo) the intrepid, male, macho, chest-thumping desh bhakt warriors who killed and died for Hindu Rashtra. The first lesson in the skewed history of Marathas came from Sanjay Leela Bhansali whose Bajirao galloped alongside an exquisite Mastani in the 2015 war-romance. And right now, on our screens, we have Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat: The Great Betrayal, which tells the story of Sadashivrao Bhau who lead the Maratha army to battle Ahmed Shah Abdali. Or into what’s better known as the Third Battle of Panipat. Panipat’s story is narrated by the voiceover of a lady. She’s not Bharat Mata, yet she could very well be. In Pune’s Shaniwar Wada, Nana Saheb Peshwa (Mohnish Bahl as the Maratha Prime Minister) presides. He has a wife, Gopikabai (Padmini Kohlapure), whose facial contortions tell us that she was not all sweet and soft on the hulking Sadashivrao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor) who he is being feted and fawned upon for winning several wars and qilas. Though there are some aghast faces in the durbar when Sadashivrao presents his prisoner, Ibrahim Khan Gardi (Nawab Shah), as the man who will head the Maratha army’s cannon ball and fire brigade, upon his cajoling all agree. Sadashivrao has no designs on the gaddi. He doesn’t even seem to have a healthy desire for the girl with the longest waist in Shaniwar Wada. Parvati (Kriti Sanon) flits around him carrying ubtans and jadi-booti to heal his wounds, but he is happy to focus on completing 1, 500 Surya Namaskars and sing songs of Mard Maratha while prancing about in low-waist frocks. But since Parvati insists so much and then goes home rooth-ke, Sadashivrao goes after her and they wed. Marathas were Pune people, but their power extended to Delhi whose Mughal king was their puppet. But one man in Delhi, Najib ad-Dawlah, wanted more and so he invited his pal in Afghanistan, Ahmed Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt), to come to India and defeat the Marathas. Abdali, a frequent visitor to India, obliged since he wasn’t really having a jolly time in his Kadhahar palace where every time he sat on the peacock throne and put on the crown with the Kohinoor, someone would attack him. Word reached the Marathas who, it seems, didn’t have the soldiers, the stamina or the funds to travel so far up north. Yet, after much bombast about desh and Maratha mard from Sadashivrao, he is given 40, 000 troops and sent off. Except that along tagged Parvati and about 1, 00, 000 pilgrims, all of whom he had to feed and protect. Then it begins, the game of trying to stitch together a maha gathbandhan in which Najib beat Sadashivrao, and the few allies that he did have were lost because of his big fat Maratha ego. Sadashivrao and his entourage march to Delhi, which they win, and then pause to sing a song while the jhanda, in true Ekta Kapoor style, rises up again and again… In Kunjpura, Marathas beat one contingent of the Afghans, but the Yamuna being in spate and all, stalls both the armies on either side, giving Abdali and Sadashivrao enough time to stare at each other through their one-eye binoculars. But then Abdali outsmarts the Marathas and what follows is a long-drawn battle which for the longest time felt like the slowest match at Wimbledon. One gola of barood flies from this side to devastate that side. Then the devastated side despatches one gola barood to devastate the other… And so it goes on till Sadashiv is forced off his haathi for a dramatic sword fight. Ashutosh Gowarikar has made eight films, of which three are memorable, including Lagaan, which set the gold standard of myth-making. But Gowariker is no Bhansali. This means, thankfully, that his bigotry is in check. He doesn’t turn all Muslims into meat-chomping barbarians lusting after Bharatiya naris and zameen. But he also doesn’t have Bhansali’s artistry and skill to tell his story with seductive cinematic sorcery and dramatic highs. He has built elaborate sets and decks up all his yoddhas and ladies in exquisite clothes, accessorised by pearls and jewels that you can’t help but ogle at. And yet he doesn’t milk that beauty. His laborious screenplay is so devoid of drama and thrill that even dramatic scenes lack tension. The film’s dialogue (by poet Ashok Chakradhar) are rather banal. Characters flit in and out of the frame saying their dialogue, but none of them acquire a personality. Not even Sadashirao and Abdali. Arjun Kapoor gets a lot of screen time, but is just adequate. Kriti Sanon is pretty and pretty decent. But their chemistry and biology is non-existent. Sanjay Dutt is terrible and pointless. He should have been sent off to get a shave and have a bath instead. Panipat: The Great Betrayal is a proudly Marathi enterprise. Based on a book by T. S. Shejwalkar, it is directed by Gowariker and part produced by Rohit Shelatkar, a “London-based pharma magnet”. That it released on December 6, the day Babri Masjid was reduced to rubble 27 years ago, is not entirely coincidental. In New India, it’s a date that is being written in a happy font. If you have studied Indian history, you will balk at the story that Gowariker tries to sell here, especially when you realise that the great betrayal the film insinuates is actually by the writer-director himself. Gowariker and his three screenplay writers have kept the names of the key players intact, but have taken leave of facts to create fictitious fiction about an epic, bloody battle and its main protagonists. Panipat does show us how desperate Abdali was at one point not to fight, even trying to negotiate with Sadashivrao, and the proud Maratha not agreeing to his terms, but it omits the real reasons why Marathas lost the battle and changed the course of India’s history. Sadashivrao did not have allies because he either rejected them (Jats), or ignored them (Sikhs and Rajputs). The only betrayal was by Shuja-Ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh, who was convinced by Najib and Abdali to join the “army of Islam”. The film also tries to obscure the real reason the Marathas finally declared war on Abdali on January 13, 1761 — it was because the Maratha chiefs begged Sadashivrao to be allowed to die in battle rather than perish by starvation. Gowariker’s Panipat claims that Abdali wrote a letter of commendation, hailing the brave Sadashivrao. Not true. But worse is Gowariker’s pronouncement at the end, that after the 3rd Battle of Panipat, Abdali never returned to India. Hain??!!! This was Abdali’s 5th attack on India. Two more invasions, involving at least five more battles, ensued, including the Sikh Massacre of 1762. Directors like Gowariker do no service to the nation or their audience by twisting the truth, ignoring military, diplomatic, common sense follies and rewriting history with jingoistic fervour. They condemn us to repeat historical wrongs.

This movie was trying to prostrate as it was positively event when the real story was nothing what that movie was made out to be. There is a lot of stories in this movie that needs to addressing to. I'll leave a few examples in here:
First of off, this lady was never had a romance with this Civil Rights activist.
Secondly, the FBI was not harassing her all because of hers political, nor because of hers involvement with Civil Rights, except it was because of her being involvement with a racist black group that was attempting to rob a several business and motivate to kill the enforcement.
Lastly, this lady was arrested for treason, publicity destruction, hatred, and harassing the soldiers whose return from Vietnam.
This movie needs to re-fix with fact-checking, instead of doing it to supports the propaganda.
I'll give it a 10 star once they fix it, but I know they won't.

This movie was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Although Kristen Stewart's performance was good she had the room to really make the role her own.

I never heard about this story and after reading the reviews I can get the frustration of people who want the facts correctly, but I guess Felicity Jones sells better than another male character. I agree it's a bit dumb to portray it as a biography and then temper with the real historical facts. That aside I thought it was still entertaining enough, as a fictional story then. Felicity Jones is the better actor of the two main characters. Eddie Redmayne, I guess I will never be a fan of him, plays his usual character like he always does, dull and uninspired. I don't get what women see in him, I think he would be perfect to play in Ratatouille as the rat, or in a remake of Leprechaun, a tiny bit of make-up will do the job, or a movie about Trolls or so. The Aeronauts is basically just one scene filmed in a studio in front of a green screen. But pretending it's a bad movie just because the historical facts aren't right is a bit exagerated to me, I just watched it for the entertainment, for historical facts I'll switch to a specialized channel.

The friendship between the two is both safety net and escape from a hardscrabble daily slog in the unforgiving New Mexico desert country. Then Jane disappears and Heidi, initially the more lost and directionless of the two, is forced to confront the dangerous secrets of the desert in order to find out the truth. This striking drama vividly captures the sense of uncertainty of transient lives, but loses power in a final act which gets somewhat mired in hallucinatory dream logic. McGuinness puts emphasis on creating an emphatic sense of place The second film from Irish director Alexandra McGuinness following London-set Lotus Eaters,  She’s Missing  has a Lynchian sense of mystery and is a prickly and distinctive portrait of female friendship. Perhaps a little offbeat to make much of a mark theatrically, the film could find an audience through streaming platforms. McGuinness puts emphasis on creating an emphatic sense of place. The parched backdrop somehow seeps into every frame. There’s a dusted, soft quality to the light in the interior scenes; repeated overhead exterior shots show networks of baked riverbeds threading through the landscape like dried out veins. There’s a sense, which builds throughout the film, that the desert is almost a malevolent presence. It’s certainly an uncaring one, as the wall of missing person posters in Heidi’s diner attests. Impulsive Jane sees her life in the sun-baked backwater as something to escape, by any means necessary. But Heidi is more rooted: the screenplay drops hints of an unsettled backstory which prompts her to cling to the stability of the unremarkable life she has made for herself. She is thrilled when, out of the blue, she is contacted by the aunt she never knew, but loyalty to Jane prevents her from relocating. Jane has no such qualms, flooring her BFF with the announcement of a whirlwind engagement and marriage to a soldier. But life in the flat, grey community where the spouses of military personnel while away their time doesn’t sit well with Jane’s dreams of rodeo glory. And she is curiously snippy about Heidi’s relationship with a wannabe cowboy. After Jane tries and fails to earn the crown of rodeo queen, she simply vanishes. And Heidi soon realises that she is the only person who cares. Of the two central characters, Heidi is the more satisfyingly developed. Fry fleshes out a character who has an unassuming charm despite her early diffidence. And an increasingly steely toughness is a welcome addition to the character’s arsenal as her quest for Jane leads her to a cult-like desert community of cactus juice addicts, led by Josh Hartnett wearing a beatific smirk and a kaftan. Jane, meanwhile, is petulant and mercurial, but her character’s motivation is clouded. An ominous score, full of metallic clanks and groans, helps build the tension and sense of threat. But a languid, cactus-fuelled trip at the opening of the third act causes pacing issues and a lack of focus which rather undermines the picture’s climax. Writer/director Alexandra McGuinness’ She’s Missing is such an odd, intermittently compelling amalgamation of motifs and genres, it really should amount to more than it does. Her film contains strong similarities to the recent Them That Follow, its desert landscape substituting Britt Poulton and Dan Madison Savage’s Appalachian setting. The two films share a central theme: that of being sheltered in a remote society, a fermented microcosm if you will, from which sole salvation lies in the form of a sect. Both feature strong female protagonists, attempting to escape that world – although the ones in McGuiness’ film resort to liquid hallucinogens as opposed to slithering snake gods. Yeah, things get pretty crazy. Too bad it constantly feels like the clearly-talented filmmaker is holding back the reigns (unlike her equestrian heroine), slowing the pace and muting the palette when the narrative calls for an unabashed commitment to depravity. It’s as if she wanted to make a Lynchian psychedelic drama and a slow-burning backcountry thriller but failed to find a coherent middle ground. Regardless, She’s Missing warrants your attention for its unpredictability, its contemplative mood, and strong performances. “…being sheltered in a remote society, a fermented microcosm if you will, from which sole salvation lies in the form of a sect. ” Heidi (Lucy Fry) and Jane (Eiza Gonzalez) are best friends and polar opposites. Heidi works at the local diner; she’s humble and giggles nervously when she talks. Jane works at the casino, in addition to preparing for a rodeo; she deems herself a queen, aiming to “set the world on fire. ” Though Jane gets married (reluctantly), she persists that there are bigger things out there for her. Speaking of her wedding, the mysterious Ren (Josh Hartnett) shows up with an even more mysterious envelope. “Don’t you get tired of feeling totally powerless sometimes? ” Jane demands shrilly, after setting a bunch of newspaper on fire in a panicked state. When Heidi attempts to confront her, Jane snaps, “I don’t need you anymore. ” Even after winning the crown at the rodeo, she doesn’t care. “I’m done, ” she says, “I want a real crown. ” The day after, Jane goes – you guessed it – missing. "…I’ll take a bold, if misshapen, curiosity such as this over safe Hollywood fare any day. ".

Cast was good, scenery was dry, and it had no substance. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and when I thought I reached it, I was disappointed. And let's not talk about the ending.

She's missing watch full game. I really think she lost it and whipped him therefore giving him an injury or injuries he couldnt recover from! I truly feel as if he isnt earth bound anymore. All I can do is pray that she will inform authorities as to where his body is located. A lovely portrait of life in a classic American west tradition. It's nice to see more of a 60s head trip film that also makes a real connection to its characters. I loved it.

Some parts in it needed something more. For me, whether Jane forgives me or not, wants to be rescued or not, I would save her, any way I can. To make sure that "family" doesnt go after or bother Jane ever again, I would finish them off in a mixed styles of the endings from apocalypse now and taxi driver. But still, it was a great movie. The ending of the movie, I'm only slightly conflicted when Jane and Heidi are reunited.
I do not care what anyone else says, but I mostly and truly believe w/ all my heart & soul that Jane realizes what she did was wrong and is slowly recovering from it. One step at a time. Later, Jane finds Heidi in the new hotel, to be reunited/together again and beg for forgiveness. then face their problems, their dreams again and their futures, head on together.
as for eiza gonzalez, it was one of the greatest performances she ever did (so far. SHE DESERVES AN OSCAR. For her performance as Jane and another statue for her performance in another movie she did. "Paradise hills" she played as amarna.
even though she did small roles recently, I love all her characters and all the hard work she put into them. But she's not being fully recognized enough for her talents/gifts. And she should be. When the new series returned I was on board with Christopher eccleston and have loved every doctor right through to Peter capaldi. I must admit it took a while to get into how peter portrayed the doctor but the episodes just kept getting better the more screen time we got with him.
I have my favourite episodes and I think each doctor had some weak episodes but then there's Chris chibnall direction for doctor who and Jodie Whittaker.
Jodie could be a great doctor but appears to be ham string by poor writing that instead of writing a good story seems to just use the dr who name as a platform for environmental issues. True I know the show has had messages before that relate to real world issues as does all scifi. My issue is it is done in such a poor way that it isn't even subtle. It just smacks you in the face to the detriment of the stories.
It's like they are adding some aliens or sci-fi as an after thought to a recycling story about micro plastics they want to tell.
I just really really hate the direction it's gone and there are a few fans still, but the majority of the fan base has packed up and decided to take a break until they either get a new show runner or doctor who gets cancelled. again!
Do yourself a favour and watch episodes like blink, girl in the fireplace, waters on mars, silence in the library, hell bent, heaven sent, face the raven, empty child.
None of Chris chibnalls episodes can even stand against these masterpieces. They just told a good sci-fi story and were good without having to rely on pandering.
